Every time I talk with existing users of our DMP FLO Suite, it surprises me how little these customers use of the capabilities of FLO...
Don’t understand me wrong: they are very satisfied about FLO, it serves the needs they purchased FLO for, but during these visits, I always end up giving demos of applications and workflows we have setup in FLO and most of the times they are over-enthusiastic about the things I show them.
Does this mean that the sales-rep didn’t do a good job? Definitely not!
Does this mean that management of the customer didn’t get the right people involved in the decision on what publishing solution to buy? Again: wrong!
It makes me realize that the DMP FLO Suite needs more exposure...
It might be a bold statement, but basically FLO can serve EVERY PUBLISHING NEED you (or your customer) might have. Let go of the boundaries, get rid of your current ideas and start thinking about an ideal world!
“What if my customer could initiate a new brochure himself?
Their brochures all have the same layout, with minor changes, so why not setup a web-based publishing system, where the customer can select a template and add text himself?
Ow... Let’s continue... Why not let the customer enter the basic text and specific lay-out instructions online, create an order in our MIS system, and have the system send an e-mail to the responsible persons in my company when we need to take action for this order...
And when our designer finishes the lay-out and design of the brochure, let the customer review and approve it online... Or do some last-minute changes before approving the job.
Ow yeah, don’t forget, when he approves the job, the system should send a message to our MIS system, so we can send an invoice...
