When uploading InDesign Files to artworkFLO, all text and images can be edited from within you web browser. True online editing of InDesign Files.
But when the InDesign file consists of a large amount of pages, the online update-process can take quite a while.
When text is being edited, all pages containing the text-frame in which text is being edited, will have to be saved to PDF and converted to the viewer in your browser, so it might be worth the effort to modify the InDesign a little before uploading.
That’s why we’ve created this small utility: The FLO FrameBreaker Utility.
Usage is very simple:
- 1. Select a folder containing the Adobe InDesign files.
- 2. Delete (if needed) the files you don’t need to be converted.
- 3. Choose if you want to create a package of the converted InDesign files. If not, all modified files will remain unsaved and open in InDesign.
- 4. If you want the packages to be created, select if the images should be included. Without images you can’t supply a final, printable file to the users, but it will speed things up a lot. To create the printable file containing all images, just download the file back from artworkFLO to your desktop and re-link the missing links.
- 5. If you want to upload the package to artworkFLO, you will need a compressed ZIP file of all fonts, links (if included) and the InDesign file. Select the “Create zipfile of the package” button to automatically create a ZIP file of the contents of the package.
Normally we always create tools for both Mac and Windows users, but the FLO FrameBreaker Utility is an exception... But if one of our Windows-based customers needs the FLO FrameBreaker Utility as well, feel free to send me an e-mail, and we'll port it to Windows as well.
