We are often asked if the FLO Suite can be used to set up personalized URL's. Well, we are a quite complete marketing toolbox. Digital asset management, database publishing, web2print, and of course cross media publishing. It would be a bit of a shame if we couldn't do pURL campaigns, wouldn't it?
The proof
Unfortunately, this is one of the things that most of our customers are very protective about, so we don't have any nice case stories to put online about it (yet). That alone was a good reason for us to start a little project on our own website.
The project
We're building (as I'm writing this we're beta-testing, actually) an extension to our site where people can log in with their own personalized URL. After logging in, they belong to one of four categories: prospect, customer, reseller or administrator (which is ourselves). Each will have additional functionalities in the system.
Prospects
Prospects can log in and get a (personalized) introduction to our software. One of our biggest challenges is how to present our prospects with an overwhelming amount of information. Sorry, but we just have an immensely broad range of functionalities. And even the simple means to describe this (blogging, online videos, case stories, ...) grow incredibly large over time. So the personalized web space gives the user the possibility to go over this content in his own environment. Everything he reads or watches is read, and removed from lists.
Everyone also has the possibility to change their own account. Doing so will result in a different experience on the site. The initial profile is entered by us (or someone else) who invited the user. These invitations can be performed by anyone on their personal site. Customers and resellers also gets a dashboard to monitor the activities of the persons they invited to the site.
Customers
Customers get some additional information on their personal area in the website. On one side, they can download the latest product releases to apply on their servers (each with a version history of changes to determine whether they are needed, of course). And because we are developing at such a fast pace (and offering those new features to customer so quickly), we also added a "Product News" section to the site. All new features (and even old features with new uses) will be highlighted here with the same M.O.: get an overview of everything, or just see what you haven't read yet.
Resellers
And our resellers get even more tools on this site. Mostly with regards to the follow up of prospects, of course.
Conclusion
Yes, we can handle personalized URL's. And we can easily mix them with the web2print solutions and cross media publishing projects that we're known for.
