FLO Media Viewer, the new flash book product by DMP, integrates callas pdfToolbox to allow customers to create flash-based reports of problems found when preflighting a PDF file.
callas pdfToolbox
callas pdfToolbox offers PDF preflighting as one of its main features. Reports can be configured using the pdfToolbox plug-in (or just using the standard preflight option in Acrobat, since callas is also responsible for writing that). The reports can check on pretty much anything you need to ensure that PDF coming in to your workflow won't give you any problems in production.
PDF preflighting with FLO Media Viewer
callas pdfToolbox is part of any FLO Media Viewer Server Edition. When converting a PDF file to a flash book, you can ask the system to automatically preflight the PDF file. This results in a simple XML report (available to your workflow) and a viewer which visualizes all errors (and warnings, if you ask so). The resulting viewer can be compared to the masked PDF file which pdfToolbox can create as well, but without the user needing to download the entire PDF again.
FLO Media Viewer can be called as a command line application (or in an Enfocus Switch Flow, or in any other workflow) so this preflighting functionality can be easily embedded into (for example) your website or portal.
Soft Proofing functionalities
In addition, callas pdfToolbox also allows FLO Media Viewer to create separations of PDF files, which can be added as an option for more advanced users in your soft proofing workflows.
Limitiations of use
the version of callas pdfToolbox which is included in FLO Media Viewer can only be used through FLO Media Viewer. Comprehensive xml, html and pdf reports, imposition features, PDF fixups, and much more are only available with the full callas pdfToolbox license.
