Joeri Paeleman is one of the owners and founders of DMP. As key developer of the DMP FLO Suite software, he's got a thing or two to say about both the technical background, and the ways in which the DMP FLO Suite is implemented by the customers.

Stock orders in web2print applications

In many cases, our web-to-print tools are configured to include some kind of stock orders. This can be very simple (user selects a PDF file which is configured as "in stock") or very complex (possibility for re-supply, automatic notifications, etc.). Usually they are static, but sometimes they include variable data (printed digitally on top of the stock).

Stock level management

While it is technically possible and we did do it in a couple of occasions, the DMP FLO Suite typically is not used to maintain the stock levels. Rather, we connect to your MIS to get the correct values. In this case, the MIS is usually also responsible for the rest of the stock management. New orders are placed by the administrators in the MIS (either in the backoffice or through the internet interface). But end users place individual orders through the FLO Suite.

Variable data

Often, the advantage of using the DMP FLO Suite in stock order management comes from a single interface for both stock orders and variable web2print templates. But in quite a few cases, the variable templates are actually placed on top of the stock. Stock items are used as the background for digitally printed variables. In some cases, this stock actually is delivered to the local branches, and the variable data is printed on top of that material on local printers.

Notifications

The email notifications necessary for stock order workflows is either generated by the FLO Suite, or by the MIS system. Both are possible, and both have been implemented in the past. But of course, as always, using the MIS system has preference here, since they have a system specifically built for this type of workflow.
