Any FLO Media Viewer Server Edition comes with a configurator for Enfocus Switch. This allows customers to create flash books from their Swith Flows.
Enfocus Switch
Enfocus Switch allows a user to set up workflows for files and jobs. These flows can be used to make jobs print ready, channel files between different parties, archive old materials and much much more.
To accomplish this, a lot of functionalities are available in Switch itself. But there are also ways in which to use external software within this flow, by using configurators for that application. One such configurator exists for FLO Media Viewer.
Configuration
The configuration for FLO Media Viewer is very simple. A .flo file can be created containing all settings for the conversion of the incoming file to a flash viewer. The configurator can use those settings (and potentially override certain settings).
Soft Proofing
This way, flows can be set up for soft proofing of PDF files. An incoming PDF can be converted to the flash viewer. This can be sent to the web server of the printing company and an email can be sent to the customer (all basic Switch functionalities). The feedback of the customer can cause the PDF file to be sent into different directions in the flow.
Creative Workflows
But FLO Media Viewer can also be used for more creative workflows. A PDF or InDesign file can be inserted into a flow, and converted to a flash book for approval by an end user. The viewer is again placed on a website (or the intranet), but this time it also has the annotation feature enabled. This way, the end user can give comments on the artwork.
When the comments come back into the Switch Flow, FLO Media Viewer can be configured to add them to the original artwork. When that was a PDF file, it can be appended with actual PDF comments. But if it was an InDesign document, we even go a step further: the comments are added to a new layer in InDesign. This enables the creative people to save even more time, by having the comments right next to their artwork.
When creating a new version of the document, the Switch Flow can be configured to also contain the previous version. This allows the end user to switch back between the new and old versions of the artwork. In some cases you might even ask FLO Media Viewer to automatically highlight the differences between the versions.
